Because I work in the pro-life field, I have been keeping up with information regarding Planned Parenthood’s latest confession that they sell parts from the babies they abort for profit. What they did is wrong for three reasons. First, they are supposed to be a non-profit organization that cares about the health of women above all, and receive billions in tax dollars every year from the government to do just that. They are not supposed to be profiting from their “business”. Second, according to Federal Law, selling body parts is illegal, especially (!) without consent from the patient (or in their case, the mother of the unborn child). And third, and most importantly, they are killing babies to do so.
So after about four days straight of being bombarded with this atrocity, I decided to take a break, close my computer, and chillax on my couch and watch a movie. A friend had recommended Jupiter Ascending, and because I like sci-fi and it was easy to rent on Amazon Prime, I was like, ok, let’s do this. I watched the entire movie, and while I enjoyed it for what it was, an intergalactic war over the control of Earth, something else struck me far more deeply. You see, the premise of the movie is that this human girl, Jupiter, is a reincarnation of an alien queen whose three kids kidnap her because they want her back in their lives for various reasons (both good and bad). The three children share control of the queen’s empire (basically all of space), and two want Jupiter to claim her “title” and re-inherit her part of the empire for their own selfish interests. The third, one of the sons, wants to kill her because she would inherit his part of the empire, which includes Earth.
Why is Earth worth killing his own mother for? Well because Earth has an extremely valuable resource, namely humans. What you find out later in the film is that this “empire” they own, is really an industry that entails seeding life on planets, and then when they have been fully populated, harvesting the planet and literally using the inhabitants to create an elixir that grants immortality. Basically human/species farms. They have engineered a science that will allow them to use the cells of those that they harvest to replace their own dying cells, rendering them forever young. This is a big business in space, and people (or the varying species in space) will pay a pretty penny for this elixir. So this “royal” family runs a big business that kills people and sells their parts for profit to people that are willing to pay to stay healthy.
Sound familiar? Yeah, exactly what Planned Parenthood does. The only difference is that for some reason, even those who are pro-PP would watch Jupiter Ascending and think that mass slaughter for profit is wrong and be upset over it, yet they don’t blink an eye over what PP is doing. What is the difference? There isn’t one, except that pro-choice advocates don’t see the unborn as living, breathing human beings. However, you can’t harvest vital organs, limbs, and cells unless that is exactly what they are. This idea of Utilitarianism, or that people are only as valuable as their parts to society, is what begins every single genocide that has ever occurred. That the ends of preserving a lucky (wealthy) few outweighs the responsibility we have to defend the weak and helpless, and justifies any possible means.
If it had come out that a makeup company was breeding puppies in order to kill them and put their cells into their products, there would be extremely loud outrage. And rightfully so. Yet people will still defend Planned Parenthood doing that to human babies. “But,” you challenge, “PP isn’t breeding these babies, the women come to them voluntarily.” Oh, they do? Actually, I read at least a hundred real client cases a week and a significant number of women are pressured into abortion by various means. Also, if you think that Planned Parenthood’s blatant support of teaching kids how to have sex in schools and offering contraceptives like they are candy isn’t contributing to the amount of babies that are conceived in this country, you are sorely deceived (1). They are benefitting on both ends of this industry.
So, what is to be done? First, pray. God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we can ask or think. Second, legislation needs to take place to bar this from happening in the future. Thank goodness some Reps and Senators are actually taking a stand, finally! Vote accordingly. Third, get educated on this issue. Learn how to defend the personhood of the unborn. Learn how to give the case against Utilitarian thinking. If we don’t learn from the past, we are doomed to repeat it. And this IS a genocide since 3500 babies a day in America alone are killed for their parts. Fourth, support your local pregnancy center financially. They NEED your help. Trust me on that. Fifth, start bringing awareness to your church. It is time for the church to take a stand on the sanctity of life. There is power in numbers, we just need to be willing to stand. And lastly, sign a petition to defund Planned Parenthood.
It is time for the Church to ascend to be the voice for the voiceless, and for Planned Parenthood to descend as the loudest voice in the country regarding reproduction. Let us not repeat the past, and instead, with God’s help, let us work towards a better future for ourselves and our children where each and every life is valuable, and matters.
